DivorceCare.org. It costs $10 to $15 for the full course of 13 weeks, which they will waive if you need. They meet every week and have group discussions. It has been very good for me even though I am not a Christian and it is a very Christian centric curriculum. While you are with the adults, your kids get support too, with other kids. 19 isn't exactly a kid anymore, but call some local groups and see what they have to offer. Some feed you a meal first, some don't. Talking to others who KNOW what you are feeling is really helpful. |

I was divorced a year ago and yes this is a very painful time for most people going through this especially those that did not want the divorce. I got through it through therapy, prayer and just wanting to feel better. If you cannot afford counseling perhaps there are groups in your area that offer free counseling, or try meet ups .com. I could not find a divorce care in my area. Also ask your family doctor for a referral, if you are employed some employers offer short term counseling for employees. Reading self help books and posts on the various divorce sites were helpful too. Also seek some assistance for your son as he needs to talk this out as well.
Yes the pain does go away once you let it go but this takes time and going through the grief process. Once you accept that this is real you can work on moving forward. I hope this helps. |
